In a college illustration course, we were assigned to illustrate a portrait of a modern activist. I chose Kim Jonghyun, a South Korean celebrity who committed suicide in December 2017, to commemorate his acts of support and solidarity for the LGBT community in South Korea and beyond. Cranes in Korea symbolize longevity, so it is my hope that his legacy can continue to influence the youth of today.
